'Rabaris' The Black ones- The Journey through our Eyes

"Magical" is the word we would like to use to describe our experience in Bhuj, in Shrujan and with Rabaris. Its been a constant learning process since day 1 we came to Bhuj.
Learning about leaving our comfort zone and living with some new people for 6 weeks, learning about managing home, learning about sharing dreams and sorrows and learning to understand each others problems. Bhuj has taught us how difficult situations bring people close together.
Meeting proffesionals, staying calm and handling difficult tasks, being responsible, being regular, being patient and following rules and regulation. Shrujan taught us how to be professional and dicsiplined.
Living happily without any luxury, celebrating each day, loving our work, being close to the roots, never being afraid, living with freedom and individuality, accepting the change with open mind, excepting new people with happy heart and overcoming the diffculties with ease. Rabaris taught us individuality and the fact that cummunicatiion and love does not need common language or lifestyle.
The amazing learning is experiencing all of it from a town which was hidden among the cracked path. The broken path, these cracks symbolise the broken dreams of people, the dreams that broke under reality (reality meaning earthquake).
The path which now has cracks was once clear of these which held only dreams and then reality hit the dreams and the path we now see, the cracks remind us of the reality. But, still there is beauty of resistance and strength withstanding it all.
In the end we are taking with us love for Indian craft, a whole new world of inspiration, a beautiful pallete of colors and some wonderful ideas of clothing.
This journey has been the most mesmerising experience for our work and for our life.

In each other's lifestyles they have to mold..
Handle each other's temprament hot or cold..

To walk this road each other's hands we will hold..
By the end of the journey, we will turn Satrangi Dhange into Gold
